Theory Hazit
May 2, 2008

Today I was hipped to an MC/producer from Winchester, Kentucky by the name of Theory Hazit. He recently put out his first internationally released album Extra Credit (2007) on the independent label HipHop Is Music. The first track sent my way is entitled “Emmit Gninrut:”
WHOA. There are few artists nowadays that grab my attention this quickly from first listen. The production is practically flawless, and the lyrics are definitely on point as well…The perfect blend of soulful beats with clever rhymes (both of which are lacking heavily in the game right now).
Also check, “I Just Wanna Go Home:”
The soul just keeps coming! Remember when hip-hop sounded like this? Here, Theory is getting his “Sky’s the Limit” on, complete with lyrics about growing up and the struggles that come along the way.
Artists like Hazit are extrememly rare nowadays, and hearing this kind of music being made in 2008 helps me keep my head up. There are only a few producers out there making (good) soulful hip-hop, and Theory manages to take it a step further with his impressive lyrical ability. That being said, the music speaks for itself, and should get any fan of good music excited about this artist.
Also, be sure to cop his next LP, Lord Fire when it drops on 6/24.
Check his myspace too…
Props to Jon Brack for passing this along!
