Rhymefest Terrorist
July 22, 2008

They did what???
According to Fake Shore Drive, somebody got ahold of Rhymefest’s iPod while he wasn’t looking. Long story short, this “Prometheus” music-jacker is threatening to release one track a week from his forthcoming El Che LP, which has been pushed back and pushed back and pushed back…Prometheus is a Rhymefest fan, but insists that by doing so, the label will be forced to finally release his long-awaited album. Here’s proof:
Rhymefest: “Real N***a Quotes (prod. DJ Premier)”
Rhymefest: “Bring It Back (prod. Jazzy Jeff)”
My thoughts after the jump..
While I’m not a fan of leaks, Prometheus does make some interesting points. We were supposed to have El Che early 2007 if I’m correct, which is a lot different to “sometime 2008/2009.” If anything, hip-hop needs good music like a cancer patient needs medication…ESPECIALLY NOW. I’ve been looking forward to this album for what seems like forever now, and all these push-backs aren’t helping us out one bit. This album needs a single, a couple videos, and a release date solidified ASAP.
Nobody wants to hurt Rhymefest’s pockets, but he’s already damaged his sells due to unfulfilled promises (again and again)..The behind the scenes videos, the tracks off his myspace page, and the internet buzz had everyone going crazy over this project. The problem is, the height of this buzz died over 6 months ago…As we learned from The Carter III, releasing an album when the anticipation level is at its highest equals record sales.
Maybe this “terrorist” will force the record label to solidify a date, in order to make sure we see El Che in the near future…But, hupefully this won’t have a negative effect on Rhymefest in the long-run. I don’t know what’s worse, leaking an incredible album, or lying about the release date again and again.
If this album is as good as Prometheus suggests, I for one will be growing impatient by the day, until the official copy is playing loud in my boom box..
