When Rappers Divorce…

I found a great article over at Complex, which discusses the breakups that occur between rappers and producers. For the most time, the rappers’ sound loses its impact (which made them noteworthy in the first place), and its a phenomenon that occurs too often.
While I agree with his examples for the most part, I couldn’t disagree more with his Common/No ID/Dilla example. While No ID defined the beginning of Common’s career, Dilla was the one that put him on the map. “The Light” is one of the greatest hip-hop tracks EVER made…Yeah, I said it.
