Mark Your Calendars
August 15, 2008
I’m not sure if anyone knows this, but we have a very important date in music coming up next month. September 30th marks the release date of some big albums in 2008…Murs For President (Murs), Politics as Usual (Termanology), and Main Source (Large Professor).
The significance of this lies in the fact the aforementioned artists stand as an example of where hip-hop needs to be going…Some legit beatmaking (Large Pro), consistently strong lyrics (Murs), and of course, respect within the game (Termanology).
Continue on for the break-down..

First, Main Source by Large Pro is a big release for rap music.
Extra P first made a name for himself with his crew The Main Source, on their debut full-length Breaking Atoms. Large Professor is a true production pioneer of the golden age, having contributed to such timeless albums as Illmatic, Midnight Marauders, and exclusive remixes for such artists as Organized Konfusion and Common.
From what I’ve heard so far, this album will be a great contribution to his near bulletproof catalogue.

Do I really need to say anything else about Murs? Every time he drops a new album, it’s solid all the way through and filled to the brim with creative lyrics and potent beats. I’m a huge fan of the Murs and 9th Wonder series, but am seriously looking forward to this solo joint as well…President has been going through realease date hell for over a year now, so I’m real happy we’ll finally being seeing the final product next month.
Several tracks from this album have already leaked (“Dreadlocks,” “Can it Be,” etc.), and are receiving praise from both the backpackers and hipsters alike.
Peep: Can It Be
Termanology is one of the newest artists in rap, who provides hope for the future of the genre. I’m not going to call this guy the Barack Obama of hip-hop, but there is a certain level of excitement whenever I hear about Politics. Most notably, that Premier joint “This Is How We Rock” with Bun B is incredible, and gives us a taste of what to expect come September 30th. Term also grabbed the production abilites of such legends as Easy Mo Bee and Pete Rock (to name a few), so we know something special is in the mix.
Termanology appears to have taken it back to the basics, and is providing himself a formula for longevity. Out of all three, Politics is at the top of my list.
