This weeks Bass Radio entry goes out to the legendaty Queens duo Organized Konfusion.  Pharaohe Monch absolutely kills it on this one, making “Stress” one of the great tracks from the golden era.  If you aren’t too sure about Organized, get yourself a copy of Stress: The Extinction Agenda and get back to me.

Diamond D is Back!

September 17, 2008

Diamond D: “D-I-A-M-O-N-D (Prod. Nottz)”

Wait a minute….What?!?!?  Was I sleeping so hard that I didn’t catch this one coming up?

Anyways, the legendary Diamond D (of D.I.T.C.) is dropping a new solo album entitled The Huge Hefner Chronicles (huh?) on Babygrande Records (10/14).  The above track is the first leaked single, and is produced by none other than Nottz.

Props to 2Dope!

Leave It All Behind

September 17, 2008

Foreign Exchange: Leave It All Behind: Sampler

Attached above is a link to the album sampler for Foreign Exchange’s upcoming album, Throw It All Away.  While their last LP Connected was a certified modern classic (yeah, I said it), I’m eagerly looking forward to the follow-up…From this sampler alone, I’m getting a little too much of the Kanye sing-a-long type vibe (“Now let your love lock down, your love lock dah-own”), but I’m betting Phonte kills the mic yet again throughout the remaining tracks..

Throw It All Away is available on 10/7 for download (iTunes) and 10/14 everywhere else.

Rapper’s Delight

September 12, 2008

Rapper Big Pooh: “Rapper’s Delight”

Download the latest mixtape from Little Brother’s own, Big Pooh.  The duo from North Carolina have a knack for making good music, so hopefully this one won’t disappoint.

Love Lockdown

September 11, 2008

Kanye West: “Love Lockdown”

This is absolute horse shit…Kanye West has officially lost his goddam mind.

Is this supposed to be “cutting edge?”  We all know he’s on T-Pain and Weezy’s jocks, but that voice box crap is beyond played out at this point.

This is coming from a fan of his music too…I thought Graduation was incredible, but if this is what we’re supposed to expect from 808′s & Heartbreak then count me out.

How About Some Hardcore?

September 11, 2008

In celebration of M.O.P. making good music again, I thought it would only be right to give them some shine on this weeks edition of Bass Radio.  While most people know this crew for making “Ante Up” or “Cold as Ice,” “How About Some Hardcore” was the track that put them on the map.  It’s definitely mood music that few hip-hop artists can provoke (including Wu-Tang and Mobb Deep).

Brownsville!

I’m a Monsta!

September 10, 2008

M.O.P.: “Monster”

Uhhh…I could definitely go for more of this in my life.

Gutter, New York grit straight from the best source.  M.O.P. hasn’t dropped anything this proper since “Ante Up,” and it’s great to hear the infamous duo at it again (FINALLY).

808′s & Heartbreak…

September 10, 2008

…is the title of Kanye’s 4th solo album.  Apparently, it’ll be dropping on December 16th as well.

G.O.A.T. – Ice Cube?

September 5, 2008

One constant in rap music is the quest for the greatest MC in the game.  But what about the greatest of all time?  While 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, and Jay-Z usually make the list, there are always a good amount of sleepers that rarely ever get mentioned.

That being said, I thought I’d dig a little deeper into some of these overlooked artists. Once a month I’m going to look into some G.O.A.T. contenders that rarely get the shine they deserve..

For the first entry, I thought I’d give a nod to one of the founders of West Coast hip-hop…He’s the mastermind behind such monumental groups as N.W.A. and Westside Connection, and is responsible for such classics as Amerikkka’s Most Wanted, Straight Outta Compton, and The Predator.  Please give it up for the legendary Ice Cube.

Here’s why…
